The band performed extensively all through the 70’s in Manitoba folk clubs, festivals and university venues. While all but one of the band members moved on to other parts of Canada in the early eighties, the Winnipeg-Centered band has never stopped performing and having fun together.
We reunite frequently and have done special performances in Winnipeg and in Kitchener, ON for appearances at the TD Kitchener Blues Festival in 2006 and 2017.
The Cast Iron Potty Band consists of Rob Deyman (banjo/mandolin/guitar), Dick Moffat (guitar/vocals), Fred Dawkins (washboard/jug/kazoo/duck call/vocals), Hugh Malcolmson (washtub bass/elephant) and Dave Crowe (various strings): five long-time friends who share a love of jug band music and a willingness to be ridiculous in public.
Joining the band for future shows are Chris “Junior” Malleck (harp) and special guest Silvia Dee (accordion/vocals).
